At the Scene
Determine if anyone has been injured and call an ambulance if necessary.
Assist injured persons but take care not to risk further injury.
Turn on flashers and set flares to warn others.
Move away from the accident scene to the closest safe location. Do not leave the scene entirely except for a medical emergency.
Call the police. The police may not fill out a report for a minor accident if no one is injured, but you should still make the call. A police officer can assist in calling a tow truck if needed, directing traffic, and can be a witness to the fact that no one was injured.
Obtain the following information from the other driver(s) and all passengers and witnesses: full name, address, and day and evening phone numbers.
Determine the name, address, and phone numbers of the owner of the other vehicle(s) if different. In such a case, the insurance on the vehicle usually takes precedence over the insurance of the driver.
Determine the insurance company name, phone number, and policy number for all other driver(s) and vehicle(s).

Obtain the police officer's name, department, and badge number.

Take pictures of the accident scene if you have a camera.
