What Should I Do After An Accident ?

After exercising appropriate action regarding any injuries and attempting to involve local authorities as necessary, one should secure information from all parties involved. Many state laws require vehicle operators to exchange insurance information prior to leaving the scene. This information should include an insurance company name, policy number and local agents name whenever possible. Full name, address and phone number of all parties; year, make, model and tag number of vehicles involved; date, time and location of the incident should be also written down as soon as possible. Provide this information to us or your insurance company as soon as possible.

It is also a good idea to write down how you believe the accident occurred while it is still fresh in your mind. While it is important to exchange information and cooperate according to local laws with all parties involved; it is seldom, if ever, advisable to make any statement to anyone about who is, or who is not, at fault or why you believe one way or another. In fact, doing so may prejudice your rights later on.
